29th ANNUAL 2012 SCHOLARSHIP AND SERVICE AWARD WINNERS


On May 23rd, members of Soroptimist International of Cypress gathered at the Courtyard by Marriott to celebrate another successful year of fundraising and community service.  The Annual Scholarship and Service Awards event began with a brief statement from each of the scholarship winners read by Linda Sunley, followed by dinner and the presentation of the awards.

VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD
- Awarded to Julia Martyn for her work with World Vision and Innocent Children. 


BANDAI AWARDS SI CYPRESS - Linda Sunley (pictured right) completed the application process for financial support for the clubs Linda Bandai Donation‘Women’s Opportunity Awards recipients’.  At the December Business Meeting, Linda reported to the club that Bandai had generously awarded $2,000 to enhance the monies already budgeted for this program.   Club members want to thank Linda for going Above & Beyond and her continued participation on the Service Committee.  We also send out a GIANT Thank You to Bandai for supporting Soroptimist International of Cypress in our endeavor to improve the lives of these women in our community.


SI Cypress also presents a number of scholarships named for past members of the club.  Each with different criteria for qualification, the Kay Moyer Memorial, Virginia Fletcher Memorial and Gay Hannah Care Scholarship Awardees were recognized.  Club members Judith Murphy & Jamie Krakowski presented checks to Breast Cancer Angels, Cancer Support Foundation-Los Alamitos, Casa Youth Shelter, Cypress Children’s Advocacy Council, Cypress Boys & Girls Club, Cypress High School Grad Nite, H.O.P.E.-Helping Other People Everyday, Hotline of Southern California and M.A.D.D.-In Memory of Allison Saliture.
